How Hypnotherapy Helped a Teenager Break Free from Self-Harming Behaviours

When “Emily” (name changed for privacy), a 15-year-old student, first came to see me, she was struggling with overwhelming emotions, anxiety, and low self-esteem. Like many teenagers, she found it difficult to cope with the pressures of school and friendships. Sadly, she had turned to self-harm as a way of managing her feelings.

Her parents wanted to find gentle, effective support that could help her feel calmer, more confident, and able to cope in healthier ways.

The Approach

In a safe and supportive space, we worked together using hypnotherapy to:

  • Teach her calming techniques she could use when emotions felt too much.

  • Reframe the way her mind responded to stress and difficult feelings.

  • Strengthen her self-esteem and help her recognise her own worth.

  • Introduce healthier coping strategies to replace harmful ones.

The Change

Over the course of her sessions, Emily began to feel much more in control. The urge to self-harm reduced and was replaced with positive tools she could use anytime she felt overwhelmed. She grew in confidence, started to see herself differently, and her parents noticed a real lift in her mood and outlook.

A Brighter Future

Hypnotherapy gave Emily the chance to break free from old patterns and discover healthier ways to manage her emotions. Today, she is enjoying life more, coping better with challenges, and moving forward with a greater sense of calm and self-belief.
